Role Summary
The Senior Payroll Tax Services Representative serves as a subject matter expert and primary point of contact for clients navigating complex payroll tax compliance requirements. This role manages end-to-end payroll tax processing, reconciliation, and filing across multiple jurisdictions while ensuring accuracy and regulatory adherence. The Senior Representative mentors junior team members and partners cross-functionally to deliver an exceptional client experience.
Responsibilities
- Manage and process payroll tax filings across federal, state, and local jurisdictions with accuracy and on-time delivery.
- Research and interpret payroll tax regulations, staying current with legislative changes and advising clients accordingly.
- Perform tax account reconciliations, identify discrepancies, and resolve issues in a timely manner.
- Respond to tax agency notices, conduct root-cause analysis, and coordinate responses on behalf of clients.
- Serve as an escalation resource for junior representatives on complex payroll tax issues.
- Collaborate with internal teams including implementation, support, and product to resolve client concerns.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 5+ years of payroll tax processing experience, with demonstrated knowledge of multi-state compliance.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations and filing requirements.
- Experience working directly with tax agencies on notices, audits, or reconciliations.
- Proficiency with payroll software platforms; experience with Greenshades or similar SaaS solutions is a plus.
- Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) preferred; Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) strongly preferred.
